This course is intended to satisfy 48 of the 96
hours of instruction to become an effective
Teaching Assistant. The WorkKeys Skills
Assessments necessary to become an effective
Teaching Assistant will be taken upon completion
of the skills review in the areas of Workplace
Documents, Applied Math, and Graphic Literacy.
The course also includes basic training on the
computer.This course will introduce
evidence-based strategies to build nurturing
relationships and the importance of communication
with children/families including using
technology. Students should be able to
demonstrate direct/indirect strategies to
encourage social skills, self-regulation,
emotional expression and positive behaviors and
the relationship between social, emotional and
cognitive development.
