This course improves the communication skills of officers while they interact with citizens. It is a course that provides a roadmap to better communication with people who are trying to make decisions whole under duress. The course also teaches impactful strategies for how to have effective and professional dialog with a focus on respect, dignity, and safety for all involved. This course incorporates the psychology of human-decision making. Strategies based in this framework emphasize problem-solving and de-escalation.
