This course is designed for those interested in working in the field as an assistant in a veterinary office. Topics to be covered will include the following: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, animal husbandry, animal disease, parasitology, pharmacology, surgical packs and instruments, recordkeeping and the law. Skills taught may include animal restraint techniques, fecal and heartworm tests, history of animal and physical exam, skin scrape for demodex/sarcoptes, ear swab for ear mites (otodecks), temperature, pulse, respirations, and subcutaneous injections.
