I. Enrollment of High School Students
The College provides seamless opportunities for high school students to get a head start with their college education by enrolling in eligible pathways through Career and College Promise (“CCP”). Enrollment in identified courses is available to students enrolled in NC public and private schools (including home schools) through articulation agreements between the school system and the College and approved by the North Carolina Community College System Office.
II. CCP Overview
CCP provides seamless dual enrollment educational opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry‐level job skills. The College offers the following CCP pathways aligned with the K‐12 curriculum, career and college ready standards adopted by the State Board of Education:
A. CCP Pathways
The three pathways are:
- College Transfer Pathways (CTP) require the completion of at least 30 semester hours of transfer courses, including English and mathematics.
- Career and Technical Education Pathways (CTE):
- a curriculum Career and Technical Education Pathway leading to a certificate or diploma aligned with a high school career cluster.
- Workforce Continuing Education Pathway (WCEP) leading to a State or industry recognized credential aligned with a high school career cluster.
- Cooperative Innovative High School Programs (CIHSP) are located on college campuses (unless a waiver was provided) and provide opportunities for students to complete an associate degree program or earn up to two years of college credit within five years. Examples include Early and Middle College High Schools.

B. College Transfer Pathway Requirements:
- Be a high school junior or senior; (Public, private, and home school students are allotted one year as a junior and one year as a senior.)
- Have an unweighted GPA of 2.8 on high school courses; OR Demonstrate college readiness on an approved assessment in English, reading and mathematics.
To maintain eligibility for continued enrollment, a student must continue to make progress toward high school graduation and maintain a 2.0 in college coursework after completing two college courses. A student who falls below a 2.0 GPA after completing two college courses will be subject to the college’s policy for Satisfactory Academic Progress.
With approval of the high school principal or his/her designee and the college’s chief academic officer or chief student development administrator, a student may enroll in one College Transfer pathway program of study and one Career Technical Education or Workforce Continuing Education program of study.
C. Career and Technical Education (CTE) & Workforce Technologies Community Education (WCE) Requirements:
- Be a high school junior or senior AND (Public, private, and home school students are allotted one year as a junior and one year as a senior.)
- Have a unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher; OR
- Demonstrate college readiness on an approved assessments English, reading and mathematics; OR
- Recommendation of High School Principal. Students meeting eligibility by recommendation of the high school principal are only eligible to enroll in a CTE and/or WCE pathway without UGETC (Universal General Education Component) courses.
- Have received career pathway information outlining program requirements for completion of the certificate or diploma.
- Any student enrolling in the Nurse Aide pathway, through WTCE, is required to meet the age requirement of 16.5 years of age by the first day of class.
To maintain eligibility for continued enrollment, a student must continue to make progress toward high school graduation and maintain a 2.0 in college coursework after completing two college courses. A student may concurrently enroll in no more than two CTE or WCE programs of study provided the exception has been approved by the college’s chief academic officer or chief student development administrator and the high school principal or designee. With approval, a student may enroll in one College Transfer pathway program of study and one Career Technical Education or Workforce Education program of study. Based on State Board of Education Policy, 1 & 2 semester-hour-courses will not count as high school credit but will count as college credit. CCP students are eligible to enroll in these courses if the course is part of a pathway.
D. CCP Tuition & Fees
CCP students pay no tuition. Textbooks and course fees are a student’s responsibility. However, there may be local provisions for them. Students should check with their high school principal or counselor to verify how these costs are paid. Transportation for high school students will not be provided by the College.
III. Exclusive College Programs for Minors
Unless they are participating in a CCP program, the College cannot offer enrollment options for students who are under the age of sixteen (16) unless they have earned a high school diploma.
