Certificate Description
This four-month Phlebotomy Technician Certificate provides theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Entry to this program requires prior healthcare experience. Students who have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified/Clinical Medical Assistant, etc. will be considered for this program.
Program Learning Outcomes
Phlebotomy Technician students will:
- Be proficient using blood collection equipment.
- Maintain proper phlebotomy (venipuncture) technique.
- Be proficient with specimen handling and processing in a healthcare setting.
- Be familiar with issues regarding today’s healthcare setting.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and other healthcare professionals.
Employment Opportunities
Upon completion of this course, individuals should be able to apply for positions in hospital, corporate, and physician practice laboratories.
